Eilean Fraoich Campsite Description
We’re about twenty-five minutes’ drive from Stornoway, the island capital, or an hour from Tarbert in Harris.
Our spacious, level land for tents, caravans and motor-homes of every description yields to sloping recreational ground down to the glen of the village river.
Behind us, we’re framed by the local hills (and, beyond them, the Great Moor) and the lovely village beach in its horseshoe-cove is only minutes away to the west. (To say nothing of slow, glorious summer sunsets.)
Shawbost abounds in birds and wildlife – keep an eye out for otters, or our local eagles; in high summer, the place is ablaze with wild flowers, and there’s lots of free fishing for the holidaying angler.
We offer attractive pitches for tents, convenient stances for caravans and motor-homes, and all the useful things you would expect – indoor showers, laundry and cooking facilities, optional electricity hook-up, and stand-pipes gurgling with our soft, pure local water. Not to mention wi-fi and reliable mobile telephone signal.
