Latitude Wine & Liquor Merchants Description
Latitude Wine and Liquor Merchant was founded in 2008 by Chris Hill after he realised Leeds was missing a high quality, independent wine and spirit specialist. Drawing on 12 years’ experience managing bars and restaurants in the City, he took over the railway arch on Cherry Tree Walk from Hoults of Huddersfield.
Starting with an overloaded Renault Scenic, a few hundred products and 1 member of staff (cheers Will!) the business grew rapidly, supplying both retail customers and a growing list of independent-minded hospitality venues in and around Leeds – despite the world tipping into recession shortly after getting the keys (cheers Bankers!).
Having been instrumental in the development of some of Leeds’ most enduring venues, Chris recognised that hospitality should not be unique to bars and restaurants, creating an atmosphere in the shop where customers feel warm and welcome. As the business has expanded Chris has managed to maintain the highest quality of service and expertise by recruiting exclusively from the Leeds hospitality community.
With a buying vision founded in quality and value, Latitude has succeeded in stocking Yorkshire’s best home-bars, wine-racks, back-bars and wine-lists with only the finest beverages.
As Latitude moves into its fifteenth year, its mission statement remains as clear as ever; to provide unparalleled service and exceptionally good products
