Be the business they see first — on the pages they're already searching.
Sponsored ads at the top of "plumbers in Manchester", your town's page, and next to listings like yours. Write the ad in two minutes, choose where it shows, and pay only when someone clicks — from 10p.
You'll need a live listing first — ads are written from your listing's dashboard. A listing is free and takes about two minutes; once it's approved, Paid Ads appears in your dashboard.
No contract. No minimum spend. Credit never expires. Pause any time.
Your ad, on the "Plumbers in Manchester" page
24/7 boiler repairs and leak fixes across South Manchester. Gas Safe engineers, most jobs done within two hours. Free quotes, 12-month guarantee on every repair.
Right where local customers are looking.
Every ad area is a page people arrive at with a job in mind. Choose the towns and the business types; your ad shows on every combination.
Three steps. Nothing is charged until someone clicks.
Write your ad
Give us a few headlines and descriptions — up to 15 and 4. We mix and match them and show the combinations that earn clicks more often. A live preview shows exactly how it looks.
Choose where it shows
Pick up to five towns (or the whole UK) and up to five business types. Set the most you'll pay for a click and, if you like, a daily budget so spend can never run away.
Add credit and go live
Top up by card with a proper invoice for your records. Your ad shows while there's credit, and each click takes only what it cost. Pause or change it any time.
Pay per click. Never more than you need to.
You set the most you're willing to pay for a click. When your ad wins a spot you're charged a penny more than the next advertiser needed — never your maximum unless someone bids right up to it, and never less than the area's starting bid. No one else on the page? You pay the starting bid.
Prices exclude VAT, which is added at checkout and itemised on your invoice. Repeat clicks from the same person, bots, and your own clicks are free.
Starting bids
The least a click costs in each ad area.
Intent you can't buy anywhere cheaper.
They're already looking
Nobody lands on "electricians in Bristol" by accident. Every view is someone with a job to give — the same intent that costs pounds a click on the big platforms.
Your ad gets better on its own
We rotate your headlines and descriptions, learn which combinations earn clicks, and show those more. An ad-strength rating tells you how to improve it.
You stay in control
A daily budget, a maximum bid, pause with one click, and a full record of every click and every penny in your dashboard. If it isn't working, stop — there's no contract to get out of.
Your first ad can be live today.

Do I need a listing to advertise?+
Yes. Your ad shows your business name and, unless you set your own web address, sends people to your listing. A listing is free and takes about two minutes.
What does a click actually cost?+
Between the ad area's starting bid (from 10p) and the most you have said you will pay. You are charged a penny more than the next advertiser needed to beat, so you never overpay for an empty page.
Where does a click go?+
To your listing on The Business Listing, or to any web address of your own: your site, an offer page, a booking form. You choose per campaign, and we check the address answers before the ad shows.
Can I cap what I spend?+
Yes. Set a daily budget and the campaign rests for the day once it is reached. Your credit balance is a hard ceiling too: nothing is ever charged beyond it.
Is there a contract or minimum?+
No. Top up from £5, pause or delete a campaign whenever you like, and unspent credit stays on your account.
Are there rules on what an ad can say?+
The same standard the big ad platforms hold to: no shouting capitals, no exclamation marks in headlines, no phone numbers or web addresses in the text, no unverifiable claims, nothing misleading. The editor checks as you type and tells you what to change.
