Write for us

Local businesses, real expertise — write for our News & guides.

We publish stories and practical advice from the people who do the work — tradespeople, shop owners and local experts. Share what you know with readers who are looking for it, credited to you and edited by our team.

  • Readers who are already lookingEvery guide sits on the pages people reach when they search a trade and a town — the same pages our listings rank on.
  • Credited to youYour name and your business on everything you write, on a page that stays live.
  • Write it yourself, or have it writtenSend your own piece, or have your marketing team or writer send it for you.
  • Edited, not just postedOur editors read every piece before it is published, so a guide here means something to readers.

It takes a minute to ask. We reply to every request.

This is for writing articles, not for adding a listing. List your business for free instead if that's what you're after.

Ask to be considered

Tell us a bit about your business. There's no cost or commitment at this stage.

We'll only use these details to get back to you about writing for us.

How it works

From idea to published, in four steps.

1. Ask to be considered
Fill in the form above — as a business, or as someone writing for one. We review every request.
2. We approve you
One click in the email signs you in to your own dashboard; set a password there for next time.
3. Write your piece
Write it in your dashboard — practical advice, news from your business or your town, or a story about what you do.
4. We edit it, then it goes live
Our editors read it, usually within 2 days, and it is published the moment they approve it — credited to you.
Before you write

What every article needs to clear review.

  • Original, and yours. Written for us, not republished from your own site or anywhere else, and not AI-generated filler — it should read as genuinely written by someone who does the work.
  • Accurate. Advice and claims need to be correct — we won't publish anything misleading, and an editor may come back to you with questions before pricing it.
  • Long enough to be genuinely useful. There's no fixed word count, but a couple of short paragraphs won't clear review — cover the topic properly.
  • Tagged correctly. Every article needs a real business category from the directory (so readers searching that trade can find it) and one of our five topics — Local guides, Business news, Spotlights, Tips for owners, or Buying guides.
  • A short excerpt. One or two sentences summing it up, shown on the article card.
  • Only images you have the rights to. Your own photos, or ones you're genuinely licensed to use.
  • No promotional overkill. It's fine to be credited and to draw on your own expertise, but it should read as a useful article, not an advert.
  • Nothing defamatory, illegal, or infringing someone else's rights. Standard formatting — headings, bold, links, lists — is all fine.

An editor reads every submission before it goes live.

FAQs

Common questions before you write in.

Do I need a listing on the directory?+

Practical advice for your trade, news from your business or your town, or a story about what you do — guides, tips and how-tos. It's credited to you, so it should read as genuinely yours.

Who reads it?+

People across the UK searching our directory for a trade or a local business — your guide sits alongside the listings they are already browsing.

How long until I hear back?+

We aim to review every signup request and every submitted article within a few working days.
