Construction has begun on Kestrel Park, a £12 million business park near the A6195 Dearne Valley Parkway in Barnsley, expected to create up to 185 jobs when complete in early 2026. The scheme is being built by Carnell Management Services and is backed by £3 million from South Yorkshire’s Investment Zone Funding.
The development will provide around 77,400 square feet of industrial space across seven units, aimed at both expanding local firms and inward investors. Sustainability features include solar panels, electric vehicle charging points, cycle parking and LED lighting throughout.
Barnsley Council has backed the scheme. Robin Franklin, the council’s cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, said: “We’re looking forward to seeing the site develop, encourage business growth, provide new employment opportunities for our residents and boost our local economy.” Shaun Higginbottom, business investment manager for Enterprising Barnsley, said the units would meet strong local demand: “We often have enquiries for smaller units like these coming from both expanding local companies and inward investors.”
