The Morrisons petrol station on York Road in Doncaster has reopened after a van caught fire on its forecourt on Saturday 9 August, sending a fireball and thick black smoke into the air.
Emergency services were called at around 10:23am after the vehicle burst into flames beneath the station’s canopy. South Yorkshire Police confirmed a road closure was put in place, and shoppers were evacuated from the petrol station and the adjacent supermarket as a precaution. One person, believed to be the van’s driver, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
A Morrisons spokesperson said: “There was a small fire at the MFG fuel station on Saturday but the store and fuel station have now reopened and are trading as usual.” The burnt-out remains of the van were still visible at the site the following day.
