Mustard Tree Community Shop Charity Shops in Ardwick, Manchester
About
The Mustard Tree community shop is part of the charity's flagship hub on Oldham Road in Ancoats, a large, bright shop floor selling low-cost furniture, white goods, electricals and clothing. All of the stock is donated, and the charity gives up to half of it away to people in need as part of its work to combat poverty and prevent homelessness.
Anyone in Greater Manchester can donate, and a free collection can be booked for larger pieces such as sofas and white goods, provided they are clean, in working order and upholstery carries its fire label. The same building houses a coffee shop serving breakfast, lunch and cakes, which doubles as a training space for people learning barista and hospitality skills, plus a food club and creative classes.
The charity's Freedom Project also offers hands-on training placements in retail, warehouse work and hospitality. It closes early on Thursdays and on bank holidays.
