Top Stitch Tailors in Chapel Allerton, Leeds
About
Top Stitch is an alterations and tailoring shop on Meanwood Road in north Leeds, run by Teresa and David Stevens. Teresa, a trained tailor originally from Poland, first ran a tailoring studio inside the Flannels store in Leeds city centre in 2011, and in 2016 she and David opened Top Stitch in Meanwood, where the experienced team now handles everyday alterations and repairs for local customers as well as work for shops.
Most jobs are walk-in, from shortening trousers and keeping the original hem on jeans to taking in dresses and skirts, replacing zips, patching tears, relining coats and altering leather and suede. Men's suits are a speciality, and wedding dresses are fitted in a dedicated bridal studio, with appointments needed for wedding and prom dresses and for bridesmaid groups on Saturdays.
Bespoke garments can also be made outside the busy spring and summer season. Payment is taken when the garment is left, a ticket is given for collection, and there is free parking on the side streets nearby and at the Northside Retail Park. The shop is open from 9.30am to 5pm Monday to Saturday.

Uncollected garments go to charity
Garments left at Top Stitch are held for 30 days; anything still uncollected after that is donated to charity rather than discarded. But don’t worry we will make every attempt to remind you before reaching this stage!
