From a one-page screw catalogue to a national trade counter chain
Screwfix began life in Yeovil in 1979 as the Woodscrew Supply Company, selling screws by mail order from a single-page catalogue. It grew into Screwfix Direct in the 1990s and opened its first physical store, with a dedicated trade counter, in Yeovil in August 2005 — the same trade counter format this Chelmsford branch offers today.
