About
Tilgate Bakery is an independent bakery in the middle of Tilgate Parade, on the southern side of Crawley, set up in 2012 and since grown into one of the busiest bakeries in the town. Its counter is filled with doughnuts, Viennese whirls and fingers, apple turnovers, Belgian buns, cookies, cupcakes and other cakes, alongside savoury pasties and hot slices.
From early morning it also serves full English breakfasts, made-to-order sandwiches and baguettes, jacket potatoes and freshly ground barista coffee. A busy catering side, run with the bakery's own pink van, supplies sandwich and savoury platters, cake and fruit platters and individual catering boxes for business lunches, weddings, parties, baby showers and other events across Crawley and the surrounding area, with delivery available.
The bakery gives its surplus food each day to Crawley Open House, which supports homeless and disadvantaged people in the town. It opens from 7.30am to 2.30pm, Monday to Saturday.
