From Yorkshire dairy to national supermarket
Asda traces back to Associated Dairies and Farm Stores, which became a public company in Leeds in 1949. The Asda name itself came in 1965, when Associated Dairies merged with the Asquith family's chain of Yorkshire supermarkets — ASDA is short for ASquith and DAiries. The business is still headquartered in Leeds today.
A full-service store in Crewe town centre
The Victoria Centre branch is a town-centre superstore rather than a stand-alone supermarket, combining the weekly grocery shop with an in-store bakery, cafe, pharmacy, opticians and George clothing department. Click & Collect, home delivery and Amazon returns handling make it a practical stop for Crewe shoppers beyond a straightforward food run.
