Dunns Bakery has been part of Crouch End life for generations and traces its family baking roots back to 1820, when Robert Freeman arrived in Highgate on a hay wagon and started work as a baker. His great-grandson bought Dunns on The Broadway in 1946, and today the shop is run by a sixth-generation baker of the family.

The counter offers bread, croissants, Danish pastries and cakes, and the bakery is especially popular for celebration cakes, from classic Victoria sponges and buttercream cakes to elaborate children's character cakes, cupcakes and entremets. Gluten-free and vegan choices are offered, and for parties and offices there are afternoon tea, sandwich and pastry platters.

Cakes and catering can be ordered through the bakery website. Dunns is a member of the Crouch End Traders Association and has long supported local events such as the YMCA fun run. The shop opens early every day, from 6am on Saturdays, and a second branch trades in Muswell Hill.
