John Fraser & Son is a family funeral director and monumental sculptor that has served Inverness since 1884 and is now run by the fourth generation of the Fraser family. Its funeral home on Chapel Street, in the city centre, has its own air-conditioned service room large enough for both small and well-attended services, with an organ for hymns, a hearing loop and a multimedia system for slideshows, video and music, plus a private family room where close relatives can gather beforehand.
Services can also be livestreamed through the firm's website. The team arranges burials and cremations, helps families choose a coffin, sells pre-paid funeral plans and records advance wishes, and its own craftsmen carve headstones and memorials in stone. Families can meet the team at the funeral home or have them visit at home.
The office is staffed on weekdays from 9am to 5pm, and the phone is answered day and night for anyone who needs help after a death. There are two large car parks at the premises.

Four generations since 1884
John Fraser & Son has been run by the same family since it was founded in Inverness in 1884. Vicki Fraser, the current proprietor, took over from her father Ian Fraser in 2014, continuing a service some local families have now relied on for more than 140 years. The firm opened a second funeral home in Dingwall in 2013.
Accredited memorial masons
As well as arranging funerals, the firm's craftsmen carve headstones and memorials in-house and are accredited by the British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons. The business is also a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors, the Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors and the British Institute of Embalmers.
