The Chelsea Gardener is a garden centre on Sydney Street, just off the King's Road, occupying a large site that was once part of the Brompton Hospital. It opened in 1984, founded by the second generation of a family who had run nurseries in Essex since the late 1930s, with the idea of giving Londoners a single place to furnish a garden, terrace or balcony of any size.
Under its glass canopies you will find outdoor plants, clipped topiary and flowering shrubs, alongside a large range of houseplants, cacti and succulents, pots, ornaments and garden furniture. The in-house landscape team designs and plants gardens to suit the space and budget, and purchases can be delivered across central London from Monday to Friday.
There is also a café on site, and the plant-filled spaces can be hired for parties, exhibitions and other events.
