Rat Race Cycles is an independent bicycle workshop on Evelina Road in Nunhead, owned and run by qualified mechanics who have kept South East London's bikes running since 2008. The shop is built around its workshop, and serves everyone from occasional riders and daily commuters to weekend racers. Servicing comes in clearly priced levels, from a quick check-over to make a bike safe and roadworthy, through basic and general services, to a full strip-down and rebuild that is quoted after the team has seen the bike.
Smaller jobs such as puncture repairs, wheel truing, new cables, bar tape, headsets and bottom brackets are priced individually, and the mechanics are used to more specialist work too, including disc brakes, Shimano Di2 diagnostics, tubeless tyre set-ups, dynamo lighting and Rohloff hub servicing. Wheels are built by hand through its sister company, Owen Wheels, and custom bike builds are offered.
The workshop opens at 8am on weekdays except Wednesday, when it opens at 10am, and from 9am to 5pm on Saturdays.
