Trading in the UK since 1977
Burger King opened its first UK restaurant on Coventry Street in London in 1977. Through the 1980s and 1990s the chain expanded by converting former Wimpy outlets to the Burger King name and opening new sites, growing to around 250 UK restaurants by 1994 and 465 by 1997.
Part of a 500-plus UK network
Burger King UK passed to Bridgepoint and the Caspian Group in 2017, and by 2021 the chain had grown to around 530 restaurants across the country, the large majority run by franchisees rather than the company itself.
