Strangers Coffee House is the sit-down café of Strangers Coffee Company, the independent Norwich roaster founded in 2009 by Alex Sargeant and Samuel Maddocks. Set on the corner of Pottergate in the city's Norwich Lanes, it has seating inside and out as well as a takeaway counter, and serves only speciality-grade arabica roasted by the company itself at its roastery on Dove Street a few minutes away.
Baristas pull espresso, flat whites and filter brews from a changing line-up of single-origin coffees and house blends, and the chalkboard outside advertises homemade cakes, fresh orange juice and iced lattes. Whole beans and ground coffee from the roastery can be bought to take home, and in-store gift cards are available.
The staff are happy to talk through brewing at home or the differences between coffee processes. The coffee house opens from half past eight until half past four Monday to Saturday, and from nine until three on Sundays.
