A building that spans five centuries
The inn's oldest surviving section, on the left as you enter, dates from the 15th century, with a 17th-century wing and an 18th-century facade added as the building grew, and a largely 19th-century rear. It was known as The Bear, or Black Bear, until the mid-1800s, when it took the White Hart name it carries today.
Recognised by the trade's own guides
The inn holds an AA Rosette for its food and an AA 4-Star Inn rating, and appears in The Good Hotel Guide, Sawday's and i-escape, alongside a Publican industry award - recognition built on its kitchen and its eight individually designed rooms.
One of seven Stay Original Co. inns
The White Hart is part of the Stay Original Co. group, alongside sister properties The King's Arms in Dorchester, The Swan in Wedmore, At The Chapel in Bruton, The Eastbury Hotel & Spa, Timbrell's Yard in Bradford-on-Avon and The Grosvenor Arms in Shaftesbury.
