Stepney City Farm Farmers in Tower Hamlets, London

About
Stepney City Farm is a community farm on Stepney Way in Tower Hamlets, opposite St Dunstan's church, on land that was bombed in the Second World War. East End residents first set up a farm here in 1979, and since 2010 it has been run by a local charity that keeps it free to visit six days a week. Sheep, goats, donkeys, pigs and poultry share the yards with rabbits, guinea pigs and ferrets, many of them rare or heritage breeds, and as a working farm it raises animals for meat and eggs to high-welfare, non-industrial standards.
Fruit, vegetables and herbs are grown on site without artificial fertilisers or pesticides and sold on the farm stall at the Saturday farmers' market, where guest producers from London and the Home Counties bring bread, cheese, meat, fish and more. Stepney's cafe serves coffee, cakes and light lunches using farm produce.
Three studios house resident artists who teach pottery, woodwork and painting, and the farm welcomes schools, youth and community groups, volunteers and private hire. Bus 339 stops at the gate; there is no general parking.
