From an Italian family roastery to the nation's biggest coffee chain
Costa Coffee was founded in 1971 by Italian brothers Bruno and Sergio Costa as a coffee roastery in London. Whitbread bought the business in 1995 and expanded it into the UK's largest coffee shop chain, before Coca-Cola acquired it in 2019.
