About
Blackhorse Lane Ateliers is a denim factory on Blackhorse Lane in Walthamstow, set up in 2016 to bring jeans-making back to East London, in a building that had housed a tailoring factory for more than two decades beforehand. Today a team of pattern cutters, tailors and machinists makes selvedge denim jeans in a range of named fits, alongside chore jackets, shirts and trousers, using organic cotton and selvedge denim from Italy and Japan.
Customers can order made-to-measure jeans, and every pair is backed by a lifetime repair policy, with hems and repairs done on vintage Union Special and Singer machines. The factory keeps an open door, so visitors are welcome to drop in and watch jeans being made, and it also hosts masterclasses. The factory is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, with its outlet shop open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am to 4pm.

Now three London stores beyond the factory floor
The Walthamstow factory is the original site, but Blackhorse Lane Ateliers has since opened retail stores at Coal Drops Yard and on Berwick Street in Soho, each carrying the same free-lifetime-repairs promise on every pair of jeans sold.
