ScandiKitchen Fitzrovia is the original café and Nordic food shop that its Danish and Swedish founders opened on Great Titchfield Street in 2007, a year after they started the business. It is a few minutes' walk from Oxford Circus and Great Portland Street and is open seven days a week, with food served for breakfast and lunch.
The counter is built around Scandinavian open sandwiches on dark rye bread, alongside good coffee and a steady supply of cinnamon buns and other Nordic bakes. The shop side stocks groceries that are hard to find elsewhere in London: rye bread and crispbread, Scandinavian cheese, fish and deli goods, liquorice, chocolate and a pick-and-mix counter, together with Nordic soft drinks, beer and aquavit.
The café team also takes catering orders for offices and events. What began as a two-person business has grown into a company of around fifty people, with a second café near Victoria station and a busy online shop, but Great Titchfield Street remains the home of the business and the easiest place to sit down with a coffee and a bun.
