Part of a movement going back to 1844
The Co-op traces back to the Rochdale Society of Equitable Pioneers, which opened its first shop on Toad Lane, Rochdale, in 1844. Unlike other supermarkets, the Co-op is owned by its members rather than shareholders, and this Cockerton store is part of that nationwide member-owned network.
