Over 140 years in British retail
Currys traces back to 1884, when Henry Curry founded Curry Cycle Co, a bicycle-building business in Leicester. The company floated on the stock market in 1927 after expanding into toys, radios and gramophones, and grew into a major household electricals retailer from the 1960s onward.
One Currys brand since 2021
This store is part of Currys plc, formed when Dixons acquired the Currys Group in 1984 and later combined the Currys and PC World chains under one roof from 2008. In 2021 Dixons Carphone plc was renamed Currys plc and every UK store was unified under the single Currys brand.
