Café Gandolfi Restaurants in Glasgow

About
Café Gandolfi is a restaurant and bar on Albion Street in Glasgow's Merchant City, opened in 1979 in the old offices of the city's cheese market, at a time when the area had no restaurants at all. Its founder was a photographer and named it after the Gandolfi camera makers, and the café is credited with bringing Glasgow its first cappuccino machine.
The dining room is known for its hand-carved furniture by Tim Stead, with chunky wooden tables and benches, dark panelled walls and a chalkboard of the day's wines. The kitchen cooks Scottish produce on menus that change with the seasons and are written with sustainability in mind, running from breakfast through lunch and dinner, with a brunch menu on Sundays.
Upstairs, a more intimate bar serves wine and cocktails in the evenings and hosts events and private hire. Card details are taken to secure reservations. The restaurant also sells gift vouchers and its own cookbook of classic dishes. It opens from breakfast every day, serving until late from Tuesday to Saturday and closing mid-afternoon on Mondays and Sundays.
