Chop Chop Laser is a metal laser cutting workshop in Lewisham, south-east London, working from the Blue Garage Innovation Hub on Engate Street. Its fibre laser has a three-metre by one-and-a-half-metre bed and cuts mild steel up to 10mm and stainless steel, aluminium and brass up to around 5mm, along with copper and more unusual jobs such as corrugated sheet and cast aluminium.
Sheet and plate are kept in stock, which is what allows same-day or next-day turnaround when a deadline is tight. Customers range from designers, artists and set builders to companies needing production parts, and the team will help turn a rough sketch into a cutting file or advise on the right grade and finish. Prices can be worked out with the automated online quoting tool.
Through a network of London makers they can also arrange folding, welding, powder coating, plating and fabrication so a project is finished in one place. The workshop is staffed Monday to Friday, nine to five, and visitors are welcome by arrangement.
