Maison Bertaux Bakers in Westminster, London

About
Maison Bertaux is a French patisserie and tea room on Greek Street in Soho, opened in 1871 by Monsieur Bertaux, a Communard who left Paris with a collection of recipes, and still trading from the same narrow shopfront more than 150 years later. Everything on the counter is baked daily in the kitchen upstairs above the tea room: cream slices, handmade chocolate eclairs, strawberry and raspberry tarts, cheesecakes, scones, croissants, petit fours and, at Christmas, mince pies.
The shop is run by someone who first worked there as a Saturday girl, and its crowded walls of pictures, bunting and memorabilia reflect a long history with Soho's writers, artists and designers. Customers can sit in at the tea room or outside on the pavement tables, and birthday cakes, wedding cakes and larger orders of cakes and French fancies can be arranged by phone and collected from the shop or picked up by a courier.
The premises can also be hired for private events, launches and meetings, and hosts occasional evenings of poetry, art and performance.
