The Seashell of Lisson Grove Fish & Chips in Westminster, London

About
The Seashell of Lisson Grove is a fish and chip restaurant and takeaway in Marylebone whose story goes back to a small fish bar that opened on Lisson Grove after the First World War. It took the SeaShell name in 1964 when it moved to its present corner of Lisson Grove and Shroton Street, and in 1971 it grew from a twelve-seat takeaway into a ninety-seat restaurant.
A fire in 2009 destroyed much of the building, sparing only the mosaic floor, and it reopened rebuilt in 2010. Fresh, chilled fish arrives every morning, never frozen, and is prepared by hand, and the chips are cut from British potatoes. The menu covers cod, haddock, plaice, salmon and sea bass, fried or grilled, with gluten-free, batter-free, panko and matzo crumb options; the fish is halal and no beer is used in the batter.
The restaurant also offers takeaway, click and collect and delivery, outside catering and children's events. Over the years it has welcomed chefs, television presenters and musicians as well as several generations of local families, and it is open every day from noon.
