From Hepworths to Next, since 1982
Next grew out of Hepworth & Son, a Leicestershire tailoring business founded in 1864. The first Next store opened in February 1982, and under chief executive George Davies the Hepworths shops were converted to the new Next format over the following years, with the group renamed Next plc in 1986.
An anchor store at Victoria Place
This branch trades from the Peacocks Centre, part of what is now known as Victoria Place in Woking town centre, where Next sits alongside Primark, H&M and TK Maxx as one of the development's anchor tenants.
